Today at their annual holiday fashion show fundraiser, Puttin' On the Glitz Chemo Cargo was honored to be the recipient of a 2011 Betty J. Henry Corporate Service Award, presented by Diane Scoville, Director of the SwedishAmerican Regional Cancer Center.
I was shocked and surprised to learn of the award. Being able to help cancer patients as they go through difficult rounds of chemotherapy means a lot to me. I'm glad I'm able to give back to the community I call home.
"The Betty Henry Award is presented annually to an individual or organization who has made an extraordinary contribution of time, talent and effort to SwedishAmerican's Regional Cancer Center.
The award was created in 1995 to honor the memory of Betty Jane Henry, who succumbed to cancer in 1994. Betty, wife of Dr. Robert A. Henry, former President and CEO of SwedishAmerican, was an active Rockford-area community volunteer for nearly 30 years.
The creation of the award bearing her name is an annual opportunity to recognize the impact which she made upon the Rockford community during her lifetime." - Puttin' On the Glitz program
