is a volunteer organization serving patients undergoing IV chemotherapy treatment. The administrators match each patient with two separate volunteers: a Chemo Angel and a Card Angel. These volunteers then send encouraging notes, cheerful cards, and small thoughtful gifts throughout the duration of the patient's treatment. Many of the Angels are cancer survivors, but most are not. This is not a pen pal program. The Angels do not expect responses, as they want the patients to focus their energies on their health. The Angels do appreciate brief notes or emails occasionally, but it is not required.
I did sign up for this service while I was a patient undergoing chemotherapy. I enjoyed the little rays of sunshine that hit my mail box every week, and they kept my spirits up.
